Darby Ann Balling has been dancing and teaching dance for over 15 years.
Her experience includes teaching creative movement and dance to all ages. She has been a choreographer for over 15 years; first, with The Delsarte Dance Company at SUNY Oswego, and then with The Third Rank Arts Ensemble and Inertia Dance Co. in Buffalo, New York. She has performed at such venues as Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo; the Flickinger Theatre at Nichol's School in Buffalo; the Chautauqua Institute; the Elmwood Festival of the Arts in Buffalo; and the Montante Cultural Arts Center at Canisius College.
The pieces Darby choreographs and performs are developed out of Spiritual and ritualistic themes. Darby has also been a lead teacher with Spiritdance classes at the Nichol's School Campus in Buffalo for over 2 years. She has led dance workshops at the Unitarian Church in Buffalo and at Impact Artist Gallery at the Tri-Main Center in Buffalo.
Currently, Darby is studying Somatic Movement Therapy with EastWest Somatics in Brockport, New York. She also completed her first level of certification in Lin Zi chi kung acupressure therapy. She is a certified yoga teacher through Sifu Chik Qadir Mason's Spirit Wind Internal Arts School, and is a member of: the Sacred Dance Guild, EastWest Somatics, and Spirit Wind Internal Arts Society.
Darby's goal is to teach others to utilize the healing power of their living body (soma) as a vehicle for transformation on all levels.
