Chi Kung: The Grandfather of Tai Chi Chi Kung's (or Qigong) history is very ancient. Primeval cave drawings were found in China depicting Daoist masters in Chi Kung poses - these drawings most likely pre-date written language. By the 2nd century, Chi Kung had spread throughout China; with over 80 million people practicing it today! Tai Chi, a more refined version of Chi Kung, was developed out the many forms of Chi Kung. ![]() Chi Kung is a healing art that combines posture, movement, breathing, and concentration to develop and strengthen the flow of the vital energy- Chi. Ultimately, strengthening the flow of Chi heals the body and the mind. It is both a preventative and self-healing technique. To practice Chi Kung, a series of simple movements while standing in specific postures are repeated, and through concentrated visualization Chi is directed throughout the body. The meditative techniques and vibrant movements increase strength, stamina, flexibility and concentration. Darby teaches two different forms of Chi Kung: Yin Yang Medical Chi Kung and the Cultivating the Chi Series. |
